In the picturesque landscape of Kisii University, a vibrant beacon of unity is emerging — the Kericho County Students Association (KECOSA). This officially recognized organization is reaching out to students from Kericho County, promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging that transcends tribal backgrounds. With a vision to unite not just current students but also alumni, KECOSA is rallying every individual from Kericho to come together, collaborate, and elevate the association to new heights.


Established under the auspices of Kisii University’s administration, KECOSA aims to serve as a home for all students hailing from Kericho County, regardless of their diverse backgrounds. This initiative is driven by the understanding that unity is strength, and KECOSA is determined to cultivate a nurturing environment that supports academic and personal growth for all its members.


The Vision and Mission of KECOSA



At the heart of KECOSA’s mission is a commitment to inclusivity and support. The association seeks to foster a sense of community among students studying at the university's main campus, while also embracing alumni who were once part of this vibrant network. “KECOSA is not just an association; it’s a family,” said Gideon Kipkirui, the chairperson of KECOSA. “We strive to create a welcoming environment where every student from Kericho County feels valued and supported.”


In a call to action, KECOSA is inviting all students from the region to participate actively in the association’s numerous initiatives. From cultural events to sports activities, KECOSA offers platforms for students to showcase their talents and engage with one another. “We believe in the power of collaboration,” Kipkirui added. “When we join hands, we can uplift KECOSA and, by extension, our community.”


A Supportive Leadership Structure


Under the guidance of its patron, Madam Evaline Kimibei, KECOSA members are assured of a protective and nurturing environment. Known for her motherly love and dedication to both male and female students, Madam Kimibei embodies the spirit of community that KECOSA aspires to promote. “I see myself as a mother to all students from Kericho County,” she stated in an previous kecosa meeting. “It is my duty to ensure that every student feels safe and supported during their time at university.”


Kecosa also emphasizes the importance of mental and physical well-being among its members. The association has established a welfare office dedicated to ensuring that every member receives the support they need, whether it be through counseling services or health initiatives. “We want every member to thrive both academically and personally,” Kipkirui remarked.

Promoting Talents and Cultural Heritage


In addition to academic support, KECOSA places a significant emphasis on promoting students’ talents through various cultural and sports activities.
